Excerpt: The Caddx Peanut is a tiny, stabilized action camera built specifically for the FPV community. Co-developed with Insta360, it takes the internal hardware of the GO 2 and strips away the unnecessary weight to create a 27g powerhouse. It’s the ultimate choice for micro quads and "toothpick" drones that are too small to carry a full-sized GoPro.

Product Description

Caddx Peanut Action Cameras Version 1.0 (Insta360 Powered) Style Miniature / Micro Action Cam

The Caddx Peanut solves the biggest problem with the original Insta360 GO 2: the internal battery. While it has its own small battery, it is designed to be hard-wired to your drone’s power, allowing for "infinite" recording time as long as your quad is plugged in.

  • FlowState Stabilization: It uses Insta360’s industry-leading stabilization. Even on a shaky, high-vibration drone, the footage comes out looking like it was shot on a gimbal.

  • Remote Control Recording: Unlike standard action cams, you can wire the Peanut to your flight controller. This lets you start and stop recording via a switch on your radio transmitter.

  • Tougher Build: Caddx added a reinforced power connector and a built-in ND filter mount. These additions make it more "flight-ready" than a standard consumer camera that might break during a hard landing.

  • 4-Pin Power Connector: The external power step-down module allows the camera to run on 2S to 6S voltage, meaning it can be used on almost any FPV quad in your fleet.

Technical Specifications:

  • Weight: 27g

  • Resolution: 2.5K @ 50fps / 1080p @ 50fps

  • Aperture: f/2.2

  • Storage: 32GB (Internal)

  • Video Format: MP4 (In-camera) / INSV (via App)

  • Input Voltage: 5V (or 2S-6S with included step-down buck)

  • ISO Range: 100-3200

  • Dimensions: 52mm x 24mm x 21mm

The Pilot's Reality Check:

  • Overheating: Because it's so small and lacks a big heat sink, the Peanut needs airflow. If you leave it recording while your drone is sitting on the bench, it will overheat and shut down within a few minutes.

  • Prop Wash/Jello: While FlowState is amazing, if your drone has massive mechanical vibrations (bad props or loose motors), you might still see some "jello" in the footage. ND filters are highly recommended to help hide this.

  • App Dependency: To get the best stabilized footage, you still need to process the files through the Insta360 App or Studio software. It's not quite "plug-and-play" if you want the professional look.

🤔 Frequently Asked Questions
  • How is it different from the original Insta360 GO 2?

The Peanut is roughly 27g, making it incredibly light. Unlike the GO 2, which requires its bulky charging case to change settings or charge, the Peanut features a magnetic power connector on the back. This allows you to power it directly from your drone's flight controller and start/stop recording using a switch on your radio transmitter via a UART connection.

  • Can it survive a crash better than a GoPro?

Yes, in some ways. It has an enhanced mechanical design and a tougher shell than the GO 2. Because it's so light, it carries much less inertia during an impact. However, it is still a precision instrument; it comes with screw-on ND filters that also act as lens protectors to keep the glass from scratching during a dirt nap.

  • Does it need an SD card?

No. It has 32GB of internal storage (with about 28GB usable). Because it records at 2.5K (1440p) at 50fps, this is enough space for about 30–45 minutes of high-quality footage. You transfer the files to your phone via the Insta360 App (WiFi) or to your computer using the included USB connector.

  • How does the "FlowState" stabilization work?

It uses an internal gyroscope to record movement data alongside the video. When you process the footage in the Insta360 app or Studio, it applies FlowState Stabilization, which makes even the most aggressive freestyle flying look buttery smooth. It also supports "Horizon Lock," which keeps the video level even if the drone is doing flips (though most FPV pilots turn this off for "FPV Mode").

  • How long is the battery life?

If you use the internal battery, you get about 20 minutes of recording. However, when connected to your drone's power (external 5V), you can record for as long as your drone's battery lasts (up to the 30-minute file limit). It also has a built-in cooling system to prevent the overheating issues often found in "naked" GoPros.
